Spanish Victory! Kevin Gonzalez Fernandez Flies to First in €10,450 Ashford Farm Speed Challenge CSI 4*

Vejer de La Frontera – February 16, 2023 – Spanish rider, Kevin González de Zárate (ESP), has been having an excellent tour so far, and already has a number of podium places under his belt; including winning the Medium Tour 1.45 class, last Thursday, with the same horse, the nine year old mare London Times PS.  Today, the Spaniard and the 9-year-old chestnut mare (Nabab de Reve x Conthargos) won the 1.50, Ashford Farm Speed Challenge CSI 4*.

Martin Fuchs (SUI) & Che Tipa

Jumping on grass in the David Broome arena, the pair stopped the clock in 65.97 seconds, well ahead of Swiss, Martin Fuchs (SUI) who took second place with Che Tipa. Martin and the nine-year-old-mare Swiss Sport Horse mare (Casero della Caccia x Ogano Sitte) stopped the clock in 67.61 seconds. The well known rider is currently number two in the FEI, Longines Rankings and has already had two wins, and a second place finish in Longines Ranking classes here at the 2023 Andalucía Sunshine Tour.

Kevin Jochems (NED) & Flying Jackie

In third, it was the Dutch rider Kevin Jochems (NED) with Flying Jackie, 13-year-old-mare owned by Stal Thijssen B.V (Nabab de Reve x Voltaire), completing the podium in 67.67 seconds.

Guido Klatte with ‘Qinghai’ (‘Quidam de Revel’ x ‘Cordalme’) was fourth and in fifth, was the Danish rider Martin Dinesen Neergaard (‘Favorit Ask’ x ‘Contendro I’). There were 89 horses in this class which was kindly sponsored by Ashford Farm.
