Riesenbeck, Germany – February 04, 2023 – Sophie Hinners (GER) and Beryl des Pres showed superb form for the second time at the Riesenbeck International CSI 2* this week, claiming the win in the €27,000 Large Tour Grand Prix of Riesenbeck CSI 2* on Saturday at the Riesenbeck International equestrian venue.
The young Germand and the 12-year-old Selle Français gelding (Popstar Lozonais x Djalisco du Guet) had already won the €26,200 Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 2*, held two days earlier at the event. This time, the stakes were higher and the jackpot too, making the contest even more difficult and exciting. In fact, she faced several more experienced riders among the 38 combinations who took part in the first round of the 1.45m speed contest, including the legend himself, Ludger Beerbaum (GER).
She was among the 12 combinations who mastered the course in the first round, thus advancing to the tiebreaker. In the end, youth prevailed as she had another impecable performance aboard Beryl des Pres, besting the field in 39.93 seconds.
No role reversal! Just as in Thursday’s Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 2*, Philipp Hartmann (GER) and Cool Feeling (Cornado I x Lancer I) ended up in second place, being timed in 40.70 seconds during the tiebreaker.
Once again the host nation did not disappoint, it was an all-German podium! Josch Löhden (GER) and Ultimus 8 (Ultimo x Voltaire) rounded out the top three, doing so after registering a penalty-free jump-off performance in 41.66 seconds.
