Mel Thijssen & Florida Balia NL Fly to First in €40,000 Van Mossel Prize CSI 4* at Maastricht

Maastricht, The Netherlands – November 05, 2022 – After a victorious first day, Dutch riders continued to dominate the Jumping Indoor Maastricht CSI 4* on Saturday. After two major wins by Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) the previous day, it was Mel Thijssen (NED) managed to take victory in the €40,000 Van Mossel Prize CSI 4* on Saturday evening.

The young Dutch superstar soared over the 1.50m obstacles in the tiebreaker with her 12-year-old Royal Dutch Sport Horse mare / Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) Florida Balia NL (Bustique x Lux Z) and registering 35.10 seconds at the end of their jump-off performance for the win.

Despite being over three second slower, Marc Houtzager (NED) was able to secure second place with Holy Moley (KWPN – Verdi TN x Warrant), doing so in 37.87 seconds.

Third place was claimed by another young female rider on the rise as Ioli Mytilineou (GRE) guided her 11-year-old BWP stallion Levis de Muze (Elvis Ter Putte x Tinka’s Boy) towards bronze honors, backed by a clean scorecard and a final time of 38.48 seconds.
