Saint-Lô, France – October 21, 2022 – No matter where he goes to compete, Julien Epaillard (FRA) is a force to be reckoned with, even more so when it comes to speed classes. Once again, the “Flying Frenchman” lived up to his reputation, teaming up with Caracole de La Roque for victory in the €25,500 Prix France Etalons CSI 4* on Thursday at the Jumping International Saint-Lô CSI 4*.
Epaillard and the 2012 bay Selle Français mare (Zandor Z x Kannan) left 50 other combinations in the dust, clearing all the 1.50m obstacles and blazing through the course before crossing the finish line in 61.27 seconds.
The level of competition was high despite only a few other entries from other countries. Gregory Cottard (FRA) and Bibici (Norman Pre Noir x Nelfo du Mesnil) were the closest ones, still much further back, registering no penalties in 62.86 seconds.
Favored by the numbers and the participation of great French combinations, the host nation swept the podium. Olivier Perreau (FRA) and GL Event Dolce Deceuninck (Toulon x Cartier vd Heffinck) rounded out the top three in 63.47 seconds.
