“This second victory is a fantastic moment. You have to take advantage of it when the horses maintain a form like this. I would like to thank Henk Nooren who gave me the opportunity to go and jump all summer in superb CSIO’s such as Falsterbo, Hickstead, Dublin, Calgary: I let my horses breathe after these very high level competitions and they arrive at the Hubside Jumping in incredible form! I feel that they have taken on another dimension. In the jump-off, I started last when the lead was held by Christian Ahlmann. Arioto is a naturally very fast horse; Henk had told me that I had to take a big risk in the double. It is true that I got into this double in a rather risky way (smile): the horse jumped the without even being able to see that there was an oxer behind. But we know each other by heart, I trust him, and I knew he was capable of giving me that effort. And once it had started, nothing can stop him. In the first round, we did nine strides between the first and the second obstacle; in the jump-off, I did seven! He has an incredible gallop! On Sunday, he will jump the CSI 5* Grand Prix.”
