Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – August 28, 2022 – Saying that Daniel Bluman (ISR) has been on fire competing at Major League Show Jumping‘s events is an understatement. After teaming up with Gemma W to win both the $214,000 Kubota Grand Prix CSI 5* and the $137,700 Cabana Coast CSI 5* the previous week in Toronto, he was back in the winner’s circle again, this time topping the $74,000 Steel Craft Door Products CSI 5* with Cachemire de Braize on Sunday at Wesley Clover Parks.
Despite having one pole down for four penalty-points in the first round, Bluman was supreme in the winning round, guiding the 10-year-old bay Selle Français gelding (Quality Touch x Jaguar Mail) to victory by being clean and posting the quickest performance, crossing the finish line in 40.91 seconds.
Shane Sweetnam (IRL) and Birdy du Thot (Magic D’Elle x Le Tot Semilly) registered two clean performances but had to settle for second place due to their final time of 41.21 seconds.
The host nation managed Sam Walker (CAN) and Evita (Canturano x Farmer) completed the top three, doing so in 42.08 seconds.
Winner’s Circle – Daniel Bluman (ISR)
“Cachemire de Braize has been very successful in the league this year; he feels in great form and he’s always a very, very competitive horse in these classes. I thought it was a very fair class. We’re jumping five-star level shows and we should expect five-star level courses. Some people had trouble, but that’s five-star competition. I think this sets up the tone for what’s coming later in the season. We’ve grown together and he’s very loved in the barn. I think it’s a horse that probably will remain with me for, for the rest of his career.”
