Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada – July 03, 2022 – Thirty-five horse/rider combinations for the $75,000 West Canadian Grand Prix CSI 2* for the final day of the Spruce Meadows ‘Pan American’, presented by Rolex. The two round competition required athletes to jump clear in the first round of competition in order to qualify for the jump-off round against the clock.
There were 10 duos representing five countries who advanced to the jump off. Kent Farrington (USA) aboard a new stable addition, Chato Lou, was able to best them all putting in a clear ride aboard the 9-year-old bay Oldenburg gelding (Chacco-Blue x Dobel’s Cento) with a time of 43.14 seconds to win the $75,000 West Canada Grand Prix CSI 2*.
Robert Blanchette (IRL) and Chardonnay (Comic Hilltop FRH x Northern Baron) were nipped at the wire by the former number one ranked rider in the world, finishing second only three-hundredths of a second behind, timed in 43.17 seconds at the end of their second performance.
Charlise Casas (USA) and Chaccolina D (Chacco-Blue x Quantus) also registered a clean scorecard too, securing the third spot on the podium backed by a jump-off- time of 43.36 seconds.
Winner’s Circle – Kent Farrington (USA)
“He’s obviously very fast. He’s extremely careful. Those type of forces it’s always hard to know how big they’re going to jump in the end. But I think at whatever job he does in the international sport, whether it’s for two star, three star, four star speed horse, he’s going to win.” – Kent Farrington (USA) on his newer horse Chato Lou.
