A Win for Mexico by Armando Hassey & Lomax in $37,500 Planning & Design Cup CSI 5* at Spruce Meadows

Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada – July 01, 2022 – The $37,500 Township Planning & Design 1.50M competition started Canada Day at Spruce Meadows on the International Ring. This competition featured 33 horse/rider combinations challenging the first round track set by FEI Course Designer Peter Grant (CAN) and only ten combinations had no faults crossing the finish line to qualify for the jump off.

Mexico’s Armando Hassey (MEX) was ready for a win in the International Ring. Aboard the 2010 gelding Lomax, Hassey  laid down a clear jump off round in a time of 45.64 seconds, putting them at the top of the leaderboard for good.

Perhaps the most consistent rider of the tournament so far, Mario Deslauriers (CAN) secured another podium finish, this time guiding Uris de La Roque towards reserve honors in 46.54 seconds.

Callie Schott (USA) and Carlo 454 completed the podium, registering no penalties in 47.55 seconds during the tiebreaker.

The top 5 riders from this competition have now qualified for Sunday’s Grand Prix, the ‘Pan American’ Cup, presented by Rolex.
