Wolvertem, Meise – Belgium – June 26, 2022 – The sky was the limit for Charlotte Bettendorf (LUX) and Babacool last Sunday as part of the final day of the first of three weeks of top spot at the 2022 edition of Knokke Hippique. Riding the 2011 bay Selle Français mare (Tlaloc M X Urbain du Monnai), Bettendorf bested 52 other combinations in the 1.45m jump-off challenge, edging five other finalists in the tiebreaker with her penalty-free performance of 41.89 seconds.
Bettendorf’s speed coudn’t be matched despite a valiant effort by Thibeau Spits (BEL) aboard Juragold Bormes (Contact van de Heffinck x Landino). The duo were almost a full two seconds slower than the winners, still holding on to second place after a clean jump-off effort in 43.84 seconds.
Three different nations were represented on the podium as Gerben Morsink (NED) rode Colina Z (Ingmar x Carthago) towards the only double clear performance of the challenge, tripping the final timers in 44.18 seconds.
