Conor Swail Charges to Win the Bantrel Cup CSI 5* at Spruce Meadows

Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 16, 2022 – The $10,000 Bantrel Cup CSI 5* kicked off competition on the International Ring at Spruce Meadows for the 2022 Tournament Season. Over 50 entries tackled the track laid down by FEI Course Designer Anthony D’Ambrosio (USA) for the one round competition. Riders needed to be clear and quick if they wanted to reach the winner’s circle.

The fifth-ranked rider in the world, Ireland’s Conor Swail (IRL), riding Nadal Hero & DB could not be caught. It was the 9-year-old stallion’s (Kannan x Polydor) first trip around the International Ring and he handled it brilliantly. The pair laid down the unbeatable time of 68.36 seconds – just over 2 seconds faster then Manuel Gonzalez Dufrane (MEX) aboard Martialis (Nabab de Reve x Lord Z) who posted a time of 70.32 seconds.

Katherine Strauss (USA) and Fair Field (VDL Zirocco Blue x Chin Chin) completed the top three with no penalties in 71.07 seconds.

The top 5 placed riders from this competition have now qualified for the RBC Grand Prix of Canada, presented by Rolex on Saturday.
