St Gallen, Switzerland – June 04, 2022 – Swiss riders continued to shine on home soil last Friday at the Longines CSIO 5* of St. Gallen. A former world number one and currently ranked second in the Longines FEI Jumping Individual Ranking, Martin Fuchs (SUI) shone the brighest once again. The Swiss and Conner Jei were the winners of the second most important class of the week, the €152,000 Longines Grans Prix of Switzerland CSIO 5*.
A total of 49 out of the 50 expected combinations entered the grass arena in the first round of the 1.60m challenge. Twelve combinations took part in the second round but it was Fuchs and the 11-year-old dark bay Holsteiner gelding (Connor 48 x Cosimo) who prevailed, doing so after a blazing penalty-free performance in 42.91 seconds.
Belgium secured the second spot on the podium with Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and IQ van het Steentje (Toulon x Kannan), coming the closest to the eventual winners, backed by two fault-free efforts and a time of 44.76 seconds in the second round.
One of the future stars of the sport in Switzerland, Bryan Balsiger (SUI) and his superstar Dubai du Bois Pinchet (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Andiamo) were consistent once again under the big stage. The dynamic duo completed the podium after a clean scorecard too, tripping the final timers in 45.55 seconds.
