Grimaud, Saint Tropez, France – May 29, 2022 – Nine hundredths, nine tiny hundredths. It is the time which decides between the two leaders of this thrilling €60,000 Hubside.Store Grand Prix CSI 3*, presented by Indexia, during the last week of the Hubside Spring Tour at the Grimaud-Golfe de Saint-Tropez. In a Very tight contest, François-Xavier Boudant (FRA) won at the controls of his Brazyl du Mezel, while Sadri Fegaier (FRA), President and Founder of the Hubside Jumping, ended in the second place with Chianti’s Champion. The podium was completed by the Abdel Saïd (BEL) and Casalor.
Twenty-eight combinations took part in this Hubside.Store Grand Prix CSI 3*, presented by Indexia, with six of them advancing to the jump-off, almost the perfect ratio of a quarter. The Italian course designer, Stefano Morriale (ITA), can be proud of a job well done and a well-designed Grand Prix.
On the immense track of the Haras des Grillons, host to the Hubside Jumping for four seasons, the course proposed by the Transalpin brought to an end the spring series: a Spring Tour which, in five weeks of competition, twice smiled at the Olympic champion Henrik von Eckermann (SWE), young guns of the French team, Edward Levy (FRA) and Mégane Moissonnier (FRA)… and the vice-champion of France François-Xavier Boudant (FRA), who on Sunday, signed his third victory in a Grand Prix “made at the Hubside Jumping”.
François-Xavier Boundant from Start to Finish!
First to set off in a six-man jump-off, the Frenchman François-Xavier Boudant (FRA), in the saddle on Brazyl du Mezel, automatically put the pressure on the other five competitors: without penlaties, he immediately signed a stopwatch flash of 37.11 seconds. The fittest rider of the moment, the Rhônalpine, Mégane Moissonnier (FRA), who had won the Hubside.Store Grand Prix 2* a few hours earlier with Cordial, was also “clear”, this time in the saddle of Baladin des Matis, but still much slower than the vice-champions of France. She would not sign the hat-trick, she had won this same Grand Prix 3 * two weeks ago. The Institut Esthederm rider, Margaux Rocuet (FRA) was also unable to lower the time to beat: clear, associated with the 2020 French Champion for seven-year-olds, the Djibouti gelding from Kerizac, she leaves Boudant a comfortable lead of more than three seconds.
Was the victory going to be Italian? Not this time ! Clear, Silvia Bazzani (ITA) and Bubalou finished in sixth place, four seconds off the lead. When the fifth jump-off combination entered the ring, the crowd held their breath: what if the President-Founder of Hubside Jumping won at home? The Drôme, Sadri Fegaier (FRA) and his Chianti’s Champion were not too far from victory. But the stopwatch still resists! A few hundredths but it resists all the same.
The Belgian Abdel Saïd (BEL), on Casalor, could they still beat it? Some other time! On the occasion of another Hubside Jumping Grand Prix… This week again, the victory is indeed French and it went to the one who was the pathfinder in the jump-off: François Xavier Boudant (FRA).
Winner’s Circle: François-Xavier Boudant (FRA)
“I was the first to go into the jump-off, which can have advantages and disadvantages. I didn’t have any landmarks, so I made do with the information taken during the reconnaissance. I realized for example that many couples have taken seven strides between obstacles 1 and 2 while I have asked Brazyl for eight. I could have saved time if I had seen other tricks and tried myself. But thanks to the experience of Brazyl, I was able to tighten the turn very tightly between obstacles 2 and 3. In this jump-off, I was still warm despite everything, with Sadri Fegaier (FRA) and Abdel Saïd who were also very fast! But Brazyl was great and confirms his consistency. Next week, we will be present at the CSI 5* of Cannes: the Hubside.Store Grand Prix CSI 3*, presented by Indexia tells us that all the lights are green, that it will “enough” to do the same thing, on greater heights (smile)”, detailed the winner François-Xavier Boudant (FRA).
Second in the Grand Prix, Sadri Fegaier for his part wanted to thank and congratulate, during the presentation of the prize, his entire team for the work accomplished in four seasons. And to add: “I am delighted, very happy, with this second place and this jump-off. Chianti’s Champion, a horse that I adore, was all the more formidable in that he was stopped all winter: he only returned to the road competition only for two competitions. Definitely, this second place has a taste of victory and I dedicate it to my mother on this Mother’s Day.
