Mexico City – April 29, 2022 – Mexico got off to a great start on Friday during the Longines Global Champions Tour of Mexico City CSI 5* * 2* at Campo de Marte. After the win by Jose Antonio Chedraui Eguia (MEX) in the CDMX Trophy CSI 2*, it was Arturo Parada Vallejo (MEX) and Eavantus C who put the flying colors of “Las Aquilas” in the €25,600 GNP Seguros CSI 5*.
Forty-nine combinations from 15 different nations set out in pursuit of victory in the two-phase challenge but only 31 moved on to phase two. In the end, it was Parada Vallejo and the 13-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood gelding (V.Alba R x Zandor) who reigned supreme, clearing all the 1.45m obstacles once again before crossing the finish line in 37.71 seconds.
One of the rising stars of Germany, Tobias Meyer (GER) did not disappoint once again, finishing only four-tenths of a second off the final time set by the eventual winners aboard Casablanca-H (Conteur), a mark that would hold up for silver honors.
Despite being their recent partnership, Laura Kraut (USA) and Calgary Tame (Old Chap Tame x Kashmir van’t Schuttershof) put in a valiant effort, rounding out the top three in 40.15 seconds.
