One-Hundredth of a Second for the Win! Wilm Vermeir Powers Past the Competition at the Hubside Jumping CSI 2*

Grimaud, France – April 15, 2022 – Wilm Vermeir (BEL) was back in the winner’s circle on Friday at the Hubside Jumping de Grimaud, teaming up with Linguini de La Pomme for victory in the €25,500 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 2*.

A total of 46 combinations lined up for the 1.45m challenge with 14 of them advancing to the tiebreaker. In the end, Vermeir was victorious aboard the 2011 bay Belgian Warmblood mare (Marius Claudius x Tinka’s Boy), registering no penalties in 36.30 seconds during the tiebreaker.

The competition was as fierce as it gets since the first two combinations were separated by only one-hundredth of a second. Julien Anquetin (FRA) and Ivizi matched the clean scorecard of the eventual winners, earning silver honors due to their jump-off performance in 36.31 seconds.

Janika Sprunger (SUI) and Carlotta 276 (Cornet Obolensky x Arpeggio) claimed bronze honors, doing so after a second clean effort, being timed in 36.77 seconds.

Winner’s Circle – Wilm Vermeir (BEL)

“It was a really, really fast jump-off. I didn’t have the opportunity, however, to really look at what the competitors were doing before entering the track. This weekend as well as last week, I I was unlucky on some courses, did not ride at my best on others: at this event, I therefore immediately started in a very good train. I just had to resume before double, because we were really going at crazy speed. I am a regular at the Hubside Jumping competitions, they are magnificent and we can only thank Sadri Fegaier, the Indexia group and Hubside for organizing so many great events and so many 5* contests.”
