Grimaud, France – April 10, 2022 – Showjumping is a noble sport of much glamour and it was no different on Sunday for Henrik Von Eckermann (SWE). The Swede already has royalty in his stables with the tiny but mighty King Edward but he also has glamour by Glamour Girl. And the mare didn’t disappoint on Sunday flying high to win the €80,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 3* to conclude the first week of the Spring Series at the Hubside Jumping de Grimaud.
A total of twelve combinations qualified to the jump-off of the 1.50m jump-off challenge, highlighted by the presence of top combinations: Malin Baryard Johnsson (SWE) & H&M Indiana, Edward Levy (FRA) & Rebeca LS, Julien Epaillard (FRA) & Caracole de La Roque, Kevin Jochems (NED) & Emmerton, Pénélope Leprévost (FRA) & GFE Candy de Nantuel, the eventual winners Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) & Glamour Girl, amongst others. In the end, the Swede prevailed by guiding the 2011 bay Dutch Warmblood mare (Zirocco Blue x Caletto) towards a flawless performance in the tiebreaker, besting 11 other combinations by being clean in 33.94 seconds.
The winning duo faced a fierce challenge, especially from Flying Frenchman Julien Epaillard (FRA), who rode Caracole de La Roque (Zandor x Kannan* GFE) towards the second spot on the podium), registering no penalties in the tieabreaker and time of 34.58 seconds.
Perhaps one of the most consistent riders of the first week of competition at the renowned venue, Bryan Balsiger (SUI) was at his best again, this time placing third aboard Dubai du Bois Pinchet (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x x Andiamo) with 35.14 seconds and came third.
