Julien Epaillard & Billabong du Roumois Race to be the Best Again at Oliva Nova

Oliva Nova, Spain -January 22, 2022 – Julien Epaillard (FRA) has certainly been the winningest rider at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour over the past year and it was no different on Saturday as the Flying Frenchman rode Billabong du Roumois to the top in the €26,200 Construcciones Hispano Germanas S.A. (CHG) Trophy CSI 3* on Saturday during the second week of the Spring Tour I at the venue.

Epaillard’s feat was even more remarkable due to the fact that the Frenchman and the 10-year-old chestnut Selle Français gelding (Mylord Carthago x Papillon Rouge) faced 75 other combinations in the 1.45m jump-off challenge, overcoming 13 other pairs in the tiebreaker, going clear in 35.38 seconds.

Second place was claimed by Olivier Robert (FRA) aboard Velvote des Aubiers (Jaguar Mail x Duc de Ferce), finishing nine-tenths off the pace set by the winners.

Italy was represented on the podium by Emilio Bicocchi (ITA), who rode Sevillana del Terriccio (Catoki x Baloubet du Rouet) towards two penalty-free efforts, the decisive one in 36.41 seconds.
