World Champions! Harm Lahde & Just A Dream Make it a Reality Amongst 7-Year-Olds!

Lanaken, Belgium – September 26, 2021 – The FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses just finished with the final competition for seven-year-old horses. It was again a very exciting final because the 41 combinations that managed to qualify for this final were presented with a difficult course in which it soon became clear that the time allowed would become an important executioner. Risks had to be taken and many riders saw a pole roll out of the cups along the way. Especially the double combination of Longines and the last verticle of Stephex turned out to be the culprit for many. In the end, four combinations qualified for the ultimate jump-off and it was Harm Lahde (GER) who secured a third German World Championship title. He did this with the KWPN-bred grey mare Just A Dream, a daughter of VDL Zirocco Blue and Carano who was was bred by the Nooren family. In the jump-off, Lahde and Just A Dream came in third and secured the victory with a clear round in 39.30 seconds.

The silver went to the Belgian rider Gilles Thomas (BEL), who rose one place on the podium after his third place in Friday’s Sires Of The World and yesterday’s bronze medal during the Belgian Championship for Seniors. For this he could count on the KWPN-bred mare J. Comghorla van Beek, a daughter of Comme Il Faut and Padinus who was bred by Guido Herijgers van ‘T Eirbissemhof and with whom Thomas (BEL) only appeared the first time in the competition ring last week during the international show in Bonheiden. As the last starter in the jump-off, Thomas (BEL) made an ultimate attempt for gold, but with his time of 42.80 seconds he had to acknowledge his superiority in Lahde.

The bronze medal went to former Belgian Champion Dominique Hendrickx (BEL) with the SF-bred grey gelding Etundel de Marocy, a son of Diamant de Semilly and President who was bred by Pascal Morelle. As second starter, Hendrickx (BEL) started excellent in this jump-off, but a mistake on the Zangersheide verticle meant that he had to be content with third place.

The Italian rider Antonio Campanelli (ITA) stranded just off the podium after two faults in the jump-off with the chestnut mare Divina, a daughter of Baloubet du Rouet out of Giuliana Silvio’s breeding. Finally, for the Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) there was a fifth place with the BWP mare Odiena van Berimar (Kannan x Game-Boy – B: Marnicq and Ludo Bervoets). He also managed to keep all the poles in the cups in the basic round, but eventually ran into 1 penalty point for time.
