Tokyo, Japan – August 05, 2021 – Individual gold has already been claimed but there’s still a golden opportunity for riders to take home a medal in the Team Jumping Competition, starting tomorrow at the Baji Koen Equestrian Park in the Japanese capital. A total of 19 out of the supposed 20 nations will field 3 combinations in the qualifier tomorrow. Although Australia had stamped their ticket to Tokyo, the team will not participate in the challenge as a result of doping by Jamie Kermond (AUS).
Moreover, a few nations have had last minute changes. Scott Brash (GBR) will not defend the British flag tomorrow after it was detected that Hello Jefferson (Cooper Vd Heffinck x Irco Mena) had had a minor strain. After a nosebleed at the end of the Individual Jumping Final, Cian O’Connor (IRL) opted not to jump Kilkenny, meaning that they will not ride for Ireland. Sadly, after the morning training session, Dani G. Waldman (ISR) suspected that Queensland E. (Quickfire de Ferann x Socrate de Chivre) was not in top shape. After consulting with the team vet and the entire Israeli team, they opted to withdraw the stallion from the contest. All these horses did not take part in the second horse inspection, which approved all that did so. Please refer to the link below for detailed reporting about veterinary inspection of the horses.
