Dinard, France – July 15, 2021 – The first class of the competition reserved to the world elite, engaged in the 5* label, was held on the magnificent grass arena. 43 pairs were on the start list. Their target was to clear the first phase of the course designed by the international course designer Jean-François Morand, then complete their round as fast as possible.
At this game, the Belgian Jérôme Guéry (BEL), riding Eras Sainte Hermelle, a 9-year-old SBS stallion (Vargas de Ste Hermelle x Anaya Ste Hermelle), was the best and clinches victory in a time of 32’’60. For the rider, about to fly to Tokyo to compete for his country, everything worked as planned. When I walked the course, I had decided to go fast but not push my horse too much, since it is only the first day of competition. “He listened to me very carefully, I am really happy with him.”
Placed 2nd, the French Mathieu Billot (FRA), also about to fly to the Olympics, who was in the lead almost till the end of the class with his mare Ilena S, had to give away the victory for two tenths of a second (32’’67). “It was a very pleasant class, Dinard is a magnificent show, we are delighted to be here. The organisation is perfect, the ground too. Ilena just won two ranking classes in Saint Tropez, and today she jumped fantastic again.”
Third-place honors went to the young Norvegian rider, Kim Emmen (NED), 26-year-old, riding Warriors Glory, in a time of 32’’69, delighted about her first participation to the Jumping of Dinard.
