Grimaud, Saint Tropez, France – July 04, 2021 – It was not the Euro Cup but The “Red Devils” celebrated victory over “Les Bleus” as the Belgian anthem was played loud on French soil after Constant van Paesschen (BEL) and Isidoor van de Helle powered towards first in the €100,000 Hubside Grand Prix CSI 4* last Sunday during the Hubside Jumping Summer Series.
A total of 29 combinations lined up to face the 1.55m obstacles on the course designed by Cédric Longis (FRA) with only four of the five that had originally qualified returning for the jump-off. The Belgian and the 2008 Belgian Warmblood stallion (Canturo x Qredo de Paulstra) were not the fastest combination in the decisive round but did register the quickest penalty-free effort, earning the victory in 48.12 seconds.
Manuel Fernandez Saro (ESP) and Jarlin de Torres (Jarnac x Calvaro F.C) were right on the heels of the eventual winners, finishing second only due to their jump-off performance in 48.40 seconds.
The host nation did claim 10 of the twelve positions in the class but only from third place on. Aymeric de Ponnat (FRA) and Hoover (Clinton x Carthago) put France on the podium, rounding out the top three with 4 penalties while crossing the jump-off timers in 47.21 seconds.
