Warendorf, Germany – July 03, 2021 – Following the final screening tournament in Rotterdam / NED, the jumping committee of the German Olympic Committee for Equestrian (DOKR) has recommend the the following riders and horses to the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), to the start at the Olympic Games in Tokyo (July 23rd to 8th). August) proposed (in alphabetical order):

  • Daniel Deußer (GER) & Killer Queen VDM
  • Christian Kukuk (GER) & Mumbai
  • Maurice Tebbel (GER) & Don Diarado
  • André Thieme (GER) & DSP Chakaria

Unlike before, only three riders per team are permitted at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, and there is no so-called cancellation result. The jumping competitions will take place in Tokyo from August 3rd to 7th. First of all, the decision about the individual medals is made, where Daniel Deußer (GER), Christian Kukuk (GER) and André Thieme (GER) start.

Only then does the team decision (“Nations Cup”) follow. A rider-horse pair can be substituted in between these two decisions. “The team decision is our top priority. We see the best possible chances of success if Maurice Tebbel and Don Diarado start for the team, “said national coach Otto Becker, adding:” Whoever competes in the Nations Cup with Maurice, we will decide on site.”

The quarantine of the horses before departure for Tokyo will take place from July 16 to 24 on the grounds of the Federal Riding School in Warendorf. The following horses and riders also go into quarantine: Marcus Ehning (Borken) with Funky Fred and A la Carte NRW, David Will (Marburg) with C-Vier and Christian Kukuk’s Checker.
