Saint-Tropez, France – June 17, 2021 – After a victorious debut with a win last April at the Hubside Jumping, Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Solero MS were back in the winner’s circle there last Thursday, topping the €25,400 Hubside Special Two-Phase Challenge CSI 5*.
The “Flying Frenchman” guided the 15-year-old chestnut Hanoverian (Silvio I x Espri) beautifully over the two sections of the two-phase challenge, clearing all the 1.45m obstacles before stopping the final timers in 32.12 seconds for the victory.
Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Vinci de Beaufour (Diamant de Semilly x Heartbreaker) were the runners-up, the only difference being their final time of 33.36 seconds.
Olivier Perreau (FRA) and GL Events Dolce Deceuninck (Toulon x Cartier van de Heffinck) were only twelve-hundredths of a second slower than the latter two, a mark that would earn them bronze honors.
Winner’s Circle – Julien Epaillard (FRA)
“Solero MS ran two 1.45m events last week and won each one. This is his third victory at this height. On Saturday, he will continue at 1.45m . He is a very competitive horse, with a lot of skill. Sometimes he knocks over a bar, but not very often (laughs).”
