Alejandro Mills Topete & Chataga Conquer $1,100,000 Grand Prix CSI 2* at Otomí

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – May 15, 2021 – The overhead clouds did not keep the sun from shining Saturday afternoon, nor top riders and horses from entering the main ring at Otomí Club Hípico for the MXN $1,100,000 Grand Prix CSI 2*. The feature classs of the weak was a 1.45m challenge contested by a total of 39 combinations, with eleven combinations clearing the first round course. Time played a significant role, with five pairs failing to advance to the tiebreaker due to exceeding the time allowed.

Alejandro Eugenio Mills Topete (MEX) and Chataga were among the finalists and the duo did not disappoint. Riding the 16-year-old Oldenburg mare (Chacco-Blue x Carthago Z), Alejandro blazed through the course while leaving all the poles up for no penalties and being the fastest among all the combinations. The dynamic duo crossed the finish line in 46.87 seconds.

It was a close battle for first place, with Andres Azcarraga Rivera Torres (MEX) and Contendros 2 (Contendro I x Drosselklang II) being edged out only by fourteen-hundredths of a second.

Nicolas Pizarro (MEX)

Nicolas Pizarro Suarez Martinez (MEX) and Kentucky Van’t Laerhof (Quasimodo Van De Molendreef x Conan Z) completed the all Mexican podium, securing bronze honors with no penalties and a final time of 47.01 seconds.
