Grimaud, France – May 08, 2021 – After winning the €25,400 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 2* last week, Julien Anquetin (FRA) was back on top of the podium again on Saturday. The Frenchman teamed up with Baya du Ter to win the €30,000 Hubside Special Two-Phase CSI 5* on Saturday.
A total of fifteen combinations managed to complete the two phases of the 1.45m contest without having any penalties attributed to them. The Frenchman and the 10-year-old chestnut Selle Français mare (Kannan*Gfe x Poor Boy) secured the victory by registering the lowest final time, stopping the final timers in 30.79 seconds.
Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) and Golia (Bustique x Doriano) were just two-hundreths of a second slower, a mark that would earn them silver honors.
The third spot on the podium was conquered by Jérôme Guery (BEL) and Garfield de Tiji des Templiers (Quasimodo Z x Goldspring de Lauzelle), completing phase two of the challenge in 31.03 seconds.
Winner’s Circle – Julien Anquetin (FRA)
“I am really very satisfied with Baya du Ter. She is a mare who wins a lot, quite regularly, but after two events, we have come very very close to first place, systematically to three times nothing. Fortnight in Saint-Lô, I went nowhere in the Grand Prix. This week, at the Hubside Spring Tour, I took a little too many risks the first two days. Today, I am relieved, it has I am therefore very happy for the mare, and for her owner, Nathalie Prunet, who is present today and who has enjoyed herself. Baya will continue to evolve at 1;45-1.50: she is now regular at this level and must continue to occupy the rankings.”
