Charles Henri Fermé Completes the Double Winning €25,400 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 2*

Grimaud, France – May 08, 2021 – Charles Henri Ferme (FRA) kicked off a busy day of competition at the Hubside Jumping Spring Tour CSI 5* & 2* with a victory for the host nation. The Frenchman rode Bellini Dufaure de L to victory in the first Longines Ranking class of the day, the €25,400 Hubside Jump-off Challenge CSI 2*, overcoming heavy favorites.

After winning the €5,000 Hubside Challenge CSI 2* earlier on the same day, Charles managed his second win of the day, overcoming all the 1.45m obstacles aboard the 10-year-old Selle Français stallion (Mylord Carthago*HN x Dollar Dela Pierre) and steering him towards victory in 38.01 seconds.

The difference among the top three combinations was less than one-fourth of a second. Roger Yves Bost (FRA) and Bluemuch des Baleines (Chacco-Blue x Clinton) were close to the eventual winners, stopping the timers only thirteen-hundredths of a second later than then winners.

The difference to the third-place finishers was even tighter. Gregory Wathelet (BEL) and Argentina de La Marchette (Acajou de La Marchette x Del Piero PB) matched the double clear of the previous two, being nine-hundredths of a second slower than them.

“Bellini is coming back in the most beautiful way after a convalescence. Of course I’m very happy. Most of all, he jumps as well as before. He had a few outings, but was not very well. The Hubside Spring Tour is really his first big deadline. He listened to me very well: he is a very hot horse, which can be a little strong at times but we were really together today. I did exactly what I wanted at the jump-off and believe me, it’s a great satisfaction to beat the very best in the world. Before entering the track, I had watched a few courses with Henk Noren, and had inquired with Kevin Staut and Julien Epaillard, two very fast riders. They advised me to remove a stride between obstacles 2 and 3. I was not very sure of myself, but I did it. Same risk taken in the last line, and it is over!”
