Grimaud, France – May 06, 2021 – It was déjà vu for France as the second week of the Hubside Jumping Spring Tour began with the host nation claiming top honors once again, this time in the feature class of the day, the €30,000 Hubside Speed Challenge CSI 5*. Simon Delestre (FRA) teamed with his most reliable and winningest partner of recent years, Chesall Zimequest, to take home the victory. The Frenchman and the 16-year-old chestnut Holsteiner gelding (Casall x Concerto II) blazed through Gregory Bodo‘s (FRA) 1.50m course, breaking the beam of the timers in 59.97 seconds.
Niels Bruynseels (BEL) and Libelle vd Heffinck (Cooper vd Heffinck x Diamant de Semilly) gave the eventual winners a run for their money, finishing just under a half a second behind (60.43 seconds).
A winner last week, Nicolas Delmotte (FRA) rode his top mount, Urvoso du Roch (Nervoso x Grand d’Escla), towards the third fastest clear performance of the contest, earning bronze honors in 60.66 seconds.
Winner’s Circle – Simon Delestre (FRA)
“Already in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, ten days ago, Chesall was jumping magnificently: he finished second in the first round and was penalized with four points in the Grand Prix, while evolving in a superb way. Today, I found that he was perfectly relaxed, Chesall was great! Already last year, the rings at the Hubside Jumping suited him well: we had a good season, restarting quietly and gradually increasing the level. He had recovered very well, and since then he is very fit. Recently, he was notably second in a big event at Opglabbeek. He is in a great state of mind and it’s nice to see him like that!”
