Scott Brash & Hello Mr. President Storm to First in €25,400 Two-Phase Challenge CSI 5*

Grimaud, France – May 06, 2021 – Scott Brash (GBR) and Hello Mr. President turned on the afterburner to win the €25,400 Jump-off Challenge CSI 5* on Thursday during the second week of the Hubside Jumping Spring Tour CSI 5*, 4* & 2*.

Brash was bold aboard the 12-year-old bay Anglo-European Sport Horse (Comme d’Api V/D Hacienda Z), advancing to and completing the second-phase of the 1.45 contest without having any penalties attibuted to them, blazing through the final timers in 34.02 seconds.

Marlon Módolo Zanotelli (BRA) and Golia (Bustique x Doriano) were right on the heels of the winning duo, registering a time of 34.37 seconds at the end of the second phase.

Mathieu Billot kept his streak of great results alive, this time aboard Ilena S (Verdi x Calido I). The Frenchman and the 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare secured the third spot on the podium by being time at 34.53 seconds.

Winner’s Circle – Scott Brash (GBR)

“I am obviously very happy with this victory. Mr President had not participated in a big competition for a long time, because of the cancellations linked to the Covid. I think that his last big race, he jumped it here, during the Hubside Fall Tour so it’s great to be back in an important event and to see that the horse has not lost any of its top form. The course was very pleasant to ride, as are generally the courses of Grégory Bodo: it was a good introduction for the horses in this CSI 5 *. Especially since the winter was long, and the top level competitions were sorely lacking. After the Hubside Fall Tour, we hoped to take part in the Geneva show and other events, but all were canceled one after the other. It was very sad and the horses had time to be bored at home. With the Olympics in the back of my mind, I will now have to work on a program for Tokyo, so horses are booked: I have prepared several for these Games since they are eligible for selection. The Hubside Jumping will be part of this preparation program: the big sand ring and the heat of the south of France can put us in condition of what awaits us in Japan. It will be important for me to see how each of my horses behaves here.”
