Darragh Kenny & GK Casper Dash to Win Turf Tour Grand Prix in Wellington

Wellington, Florida , EUA – March 17, 2021 – Ireland’s Darragh Kenny (IRL) and GK Casper “ghosted” the competition during Turf Tour 9 at Polo West, adding to his already impressive tally of 2021 wins on the circuit. Once again topping the weekly $15,000 1.40M Turf Tour Grand Prix, Kenny and Casper topped a field of thirty over a course designed by Leopoldo Palacios (VEN).

Kenny and the 13-year-old Holsteiner (Canto 16 x Quantum) once again closed out the class with a exceptionally quick double clear effort, opting to take a tight turn after the one stride instead of going around the triple combination. A master of the seemingly effortless yet ambitiously navigated jump-off, Kenny’s latest victorious ride logged a time of 35.943 seconds.

Kevin Mealiff (IRL) & Billy Manjaro

GK Casper’s stablemate, Billy Manjaro (Animo x Cevin Z), galloped to second on 37.190 with Kevin Mealiff (IRL) in the irons.

Kent Farrington (USA) & Kaprice

With only a few tenths of second separation, third place went to Kent Farrington (USA) and Kaprice (Echo Van T Spieveld x Carthago) with a time of 37.363 seconds.

The Turf Tour has always attracted both the ambitious adult amateur and junior in addition to an international who’s who of show jumping’s finest. Polo West, which will be the location of the final Turf Tour of 2021 March 24-27, added another top name to the list this season with Egypt’s Nayal Nassar (EGY) jumping in the Grand Prix. “Polo West was my first time out at The Ridge this year,” said Nassar. “We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful set up, and flexibility offered to us. I chose to compete a more experienced horse who needed a few rounds to get back into jumping shape, and it was great for her to have a change of scenery. Our team at Evergate have also brought out some younger horses who need mileage on a grass field. There is something for everyone at The Ridge and that’s what makes it such a valuable tool for us riders. Huge thank you to everyone who helps make it so successful.”

Don’t miss the final weeks of the Wellington Turf Tour season, complete with social & horse distancing, complimentary hospitality, and a division for everyone! Turf Tour 11 (March 17-19) is set to take place at the popular Black Watch Farm, with two arenas of .80M-1.40M show jumping on the grass. March 20-21 The Ridge at Wellington will host four Hunter Derbies with over $12,000 in prize money and including a Mini Derby, a 2′ Derby, 2’6″ Derby, and 3′ Derby.
