Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico – February 18, 2021 – Francisco Pasquel (MEX) and Coronado were back to their old tricks again on Thursday during the second week of the Coapexpan CSI 3* & CSI 4* at the Club Hípico Coapexpan. The dynamic duo triumphed in the MXN $2,000,000 Jump-off Challenge CSI 4*.
A total of 38 combinations entered the ring to face the 1.50m obstacles set on the course of the jump-off CSI 4* with 11 of the 12 combinations that cleared the first-round course returning for the decisive phase.
Pasquel repeated the feat aboard the 12-year-old grey Oldenburg gelding (Cassini I x Acord II) not only blazed through the course, also managing to leave all the poles up for no penalties, leaving dust to the field in 41.97 seconds.
Nicolas Pizarro (MEX) and Fabrice DN (Gelhas VDL Emilion x Baloubet du Rouet) were the closest ones, matching the double of the eventual winners, finishing second due to their final time of 42.89 seconds.
Despite the participation of several combinations representing Argentina, Australia, Brazil and Chile, the host nation swept the three top positions on the podium. Nicolas Pizarro (MEX) and Enkidu (Ensor VDH Pleville x Quidam de Revel) earned bronze after registering and clean scorecard too, tripping the jump-off timers in 43.08 seconds.
