Vilamoura, Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – February 18, 2021 – For the second straight week riders who defend the colors of Great Britain and Ireland battled amongst themselves for the win and claimed the three first positions in the €25,700 Speed Challenge CSI 3* during the fourth week of the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour CSI 3* at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.
After winning one of the feature classes last week, Michael Pender (IRL) was back on top of the podium again. This time, the Irishman rode HHS Fortune, guiding the 10-year-old bay Irish Sport Horse mare (Catoki x Douglas) flawlessly over all the 1.45m obstacles before crossing the finish line in 62.31 seconds for the victory.
Winner of two Longines Ranking FEI classes last week, Laura Renwick (GBR) was consistent again, riding Dublin (Vigaro x Calvados) towards a penalty-free performance that eventually would earn them silver honors.
Lily Attwood (GBR) had another top-three finish, securing bronze honors aboard Cor-Leon vd Vlierbeek Z (Calvaro Z x Omar) in 63.45 seconds.
