
Ornago, Italy – February 14, 2021 – The Swiss flag stood higher than the rest on Sunday as Pius Schwizer (SUI) and Balou Rubin R powered to victory in the €26,000 Grand Prix CSI 2* during the first week of the Jumping Malaspina CSI 2* at Scuderie Malaspina in Ornago, Italy.
The Swiss and the 2007 dark bay Oldenburg gelding (Balou du Rouet x Coleur Rubin R) were supreme in the 1.45m challenge, completing both of the performances without having any penalties attributed to them, leaving the field in the dust with a jump-off time of 37.51 seconds.
The closest pair to the winners were Christoph Obernauer (AUT) and Klens Cocario (Carrico x Chambertin), backed by a clean scorecard and a time of 39.71 seconds during the tiebreaker.
The third spot on the podium was claimed by Thomas Mang (GER) and Arko Junior (Arko III x Harras), matching the double clear of the previous two while being timed in 40.06 seconds in the decisive round.
