Wellington, Florida, USA – February 05, 2021 – Ireland took the top prize in the $15,000 Turf Tour Grand Prix last Friday at The Ridge in Wellington. Once again, it was up to Darragh Kenny (IRL) to do the honors for the Irishmen, this time teaming up with with a new top horse for the blue ribbon.
Leslie Howard (USA) and After Eight set the mark to be challenged in the jump-off, leading almost all the way to the end with a time of 37.188 seconds. However, the US Olympic veteran would have to settle for second place.
The eventual winners of the 1.40m challenge were Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Urhelia Lutterbach. Kenny is known for being a great catch rider, and although that was not exactly the case, he lived up to his reputation. Having had the McCahill family’s 13-year-old Selle Français mare (Helios de La Cour II x Emilion) added to his string recently, the Irishmen was supreme, guiding her towards two penalty-free performances and the victory in 37.164 seconds.
Bronze honoras was claimed by Carly Anthony (USA) on Sun Song, registering no penalties and a final time of 37.457 seconds.
