Oliva Nova, Spain – December 04, 2020 – The Vereecke family name has been synonymous with victory the past months at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour and it was no different on Saturday. The dad-son combination of Koen and Andres have accounted for 17 wins since showjumping resumed there after the summer, several of them being FEI-level classes and even a first-place finish in the €45,900 CHG Grand Prix CSI 2*.
Koen Vereecke (BEL) had won the €26,200 CHG Grand Prix Qualifier on Thursday but Saturday’s feature class was claimed by his son Andres. The Belgian teamed up with Diadarco Van Evendael Z (Diamant de Semilly x Darco), completing their jump-off effort flawlessly in 36.17 seconds.
Michael Pender (IRL) and HHS Calais (Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality 004) were right on the heels of the eventual winners, finishing second only due to their final time of 36.41 seconds.
Third place was taken when Victor Bettendorf (LUX) and Catapulte de La Roque (Quaprice Boimargot Quincy x Kannan) crossed the finish line in 36.70 seconds after leaving all the poles they faced up for no penalties during the tiebreaker.
