Columbus, Ohio – October 2, 2020 – Spencer Smith (USA) rode Ayade Hero Z to victory in the $37,000 Restylane® 1.45m Welcome class at the Split Rock Jumping Tour’s (SRJT) Columbus International II CSI 2*. The event continues through Sunday at the Brave Horse Equestrian Center, operating under COVID-19 protocols and guidelines with approvals from the State of Ohio, FEI and USEF.
Out of a starting field of 84 horses, Smith was one of 16 to reach the tiebreaking jump-off by riding without penalty over the 16-jump, first-round course designed by Oscar Soberon. Six entries then turned in another clean round over the 8-jump, jump-off course with Smith claiming the win with the fastest time of 34.260 seconds aboard the 9-year-old chestnut Zangersheide mare (Aganix du Seigneur x HH Radco).
Placing second was Rowan Willis (AUS) with no penalties and a time of 35.520 on Ekita Eindeken Z (Emilion van’t Schapphof x Codex).
Third place was claimed Karl Cook (USA) who finished with no faults and a final time of 36.330 seconds on Caillou 24 (Casall x San Patrignano Corrado).

The Columbus International II CSI 2* is hosting a full schedule of show jumping classes ranging in height from .85m to 1.45m with classes for juniors, amateurs and top professionals. The schedule includes three FEI classes highlighted by the week’s culminating event, the $100,000 1.45m FEI Grand Prix on Sunday. Other weekend highlights include the $20,000 Restylane® 1.35m National Prix on Saturday.
