Grimaud, France – September 19, 2020 – Edward Levy (FRA) and Rebeca LS have been one of the most successful combinations this year at the Hubside Jumping, and it was no different this Saturday during the second week of the Autumn Tour.

After coming second in two Grands Prix at the Hubside Jumping the last weeks, the Frenchman and the 14-year-old bay La Silla mare (Rebozo La Silla x Cassini I) were out for redemption. The duo soared over all the 1.45m-1.50m obstacles they faced during their two performances, completing their second effort in 30.61 seconds for the victory in the €51,400 Hubside Jump-off Challenge.

Daniel Deusser (GER) & Jasmien vd Bisschop

The former number-one ranked rider in the world, Daniel Deusser (GER) and Jasmien vd Bisschop (Larino x Chin Chin) earned silver honors by matching the double clear of the winning pair and stopping the timers in 31.17 seconds during the tiebreaker.

Peder Fredricson (SWE) & H&M Christian K

The third spot on the podium was claimed by another giant of the sport, the Swede, Peder Fredricson (SWE) , who was exactly six-hundredths of a second behind the German aboard H&M Christian K (Namelus R x Calvados).

Winner’s Circle – Edward Levy (FRA)

“When I go with Rebeca in a jump-off I’m generally pretty well armed, let’s say (laughs)! She’s a very fast mare and always gives her all. It was a delicate jump-off and there were twenty of us taking at short at it. So it wasn’t that easy, my mare responded very well on the two tight half-turns and as she doesn’t have a very big action, it allows me to always go forward so I save time. There was already plenty to do in the first round but the exceptional number of riders and horses in this type of 1.50m event justifies the number of combinations in the jump-off today. I just hope that the number of jump-offs tonight will not encourage Uliano Vezzani (ITA) to cook us too much tomorrow (laughs)! No kidding, tomorrow it will be a 5* Grand Prix, so it will be high and technical, but Uno de Cerisy was fourth in yesterday’s major event, which is quite auspicious. I’m pretty confident.”

Dans l’épreuve phare de cette journée à l’Hubside Fall Tour de Grimaud, le Français Edward Levy s’est imposé aux rênes de Rebeca LS. Au terme d’un barrage à 1,50m et à vingt-et-un qualifiés, il devance l’Allemand Daniel Deusser, deuxième avec Jasmien Vd Bisschop. Le Suédois Peder Fredricson prend la troisième place avec H&M Christian K.

Un peu plus tôt dans l’après-midi, le numéro 1 mondial, le Suisse Steve Guerdat, s’était imposé dans l’épreuve à 1,45m du CSI 5*, aux commandes d’Ulysse des Forêts, déjà victorieuse, la semaine dernière, du Grand Prix 4*.

“Quand je pars avec Rebeca dans un barrage je suis généralement plutôt bien armé on va dire (rires) ! C’est une jument très rapide et qui se donne toujours à fond. C’était un barrage délicat et nous étions vingt à y prendre part donc ce n’était pas si facile. Ma jument a très bien répondu sur les deux demi-tours serrés et comme elle n’a pas une très grand action, cela me permet d’aller toujours en avant donc de gagner du temps.
Il y avait déjà de quoi faire au premier tour mais le plateau exceptionnel de cavaliers et chevaux, sur ce type d’épreuve à 1,50m justifie le nombre de barragistes aujourd’hui. J’espère juste que le nombre de barragistes de ce soir n’incitera pas Uliano Vezzani à trop nous cuisiner demain (rires) ! Sans blague, demain ce sera un Grand Prix 5*, donc ce sera haut et technique, mais Uno de Cerisy était quatrième de l’épreuve majeure d’hier, ce qui est plutôt de bon augure. Je suis assez confiant.”
