Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida & Delvaux are the Best in €35,000 Jump-off Challenge CSI 4*

Grimaud, France – September 12, 2020 – Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) and Delvaux were the main characters yesterday during the second day of the Hubside Jumping Fall Tour CSI 4*. The duo were the winners of the feature class of the day €35,000 Jump-off Challenge CSI 4*.

With obstacles set at the maximum height of 1.50m, the contest was very challenging, resulting in only five combinations advancing to the jump-off. The Portuguese rider and the 12-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood stallion (Chacco-Blue x Lancer II) were supreme by clearing all the obstacles and crossing the finish line in 39.39 seconds.

The host nation was represented on the podium by Grégory Cottard (FRA), who guided Bibici (Norman Pre Noir x Nelfo du Mesnil) towards silver honors, backed by a clean jump-off effort in 39.73 seconds.

Roberto Turchetto (ITA) & My Cool Passion

As the only other combination that registered a double clear, Roberto Turchetto (ITA) and My Cool Passion secured the third spot on the podium with a final time of 41.17 seconds.

Winner’s Circle – Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR)

“This last event of the day was a serious one, particularly technical, and we saw that few riders managed to sign a clear round in the first lap. My horse Delvaux has a lot of qualities, which gave me the simpler task. He has been in my stables for six months and I feel that we are now ready for a good performance. I really believe in good results in the future. I am based in Holland, at the Margaretha Hoeve stables, where I works and rides Eric Berkhof’s horses. The Hubside Jumping is my first CSI 4 * in the colors of these stables. It is also my first participation in a Hubside Jumping competition: all the conditions for top sport are gathered here.”
