Valkenswaard, Netherlands – May 17, 2020 – Our Tips and Tricks feature series continues this week with an interesting jumping exercise from Peder Fredricson (SWE). In this video, Peder shares his thoughts on the best ways to train horses ready for competition – training exercises and techniques that can then translate into use in the ring, and developing a correct shape and bascule over fences when jumping as well as keeping horses ‘jumping fit’.
This exercise uses two sets of three fences set on curved lines, which Peder explains allows more control in comparison with a straight line. Using related distances between these fences, the rider can vary the stride length, and using fences on a curved line also works on roundness and suppleness as well as balance.
