Salzburg, Austria – December 08, 2019 – Andrew Kocher (USA) and Squirt Gun won the €95,000 Travel Charme Grand Prix of Salzburg CSI 4* today during the Amadeus Horse Indoors CSI 4*/2* in Austria.
The selective course in the main competition of 4-star-jumping at the Amadeus Horse Indoors was 1.60m high and demanded full concentration of riders and horses from the first to the last jump. The eagerly awaited in the bottom circulation of the world ranking jumped at the end of exactly eight of the 40 pairs of participants, who thus made the victory in the jump-off.
The victory, and thus a Ford Ranger pickup by Auto Pichler Leoben worth 32,000 euros, finally went to the No. 83 in the world Andrew Kocher (USA). The winning rider comes from a horse family and is not only a heart and soul showjumping rider, but also breeder and dealer. In the saddle of the only eight-year-old Oldenburg (Diarado x Quick Star) the 36-year-old American took all the risks and won in his third start in Salzburg, registering no penalties and an unbeatable jump-off time of 39.54 seconds.
At the winner’s interview, he was enthusiastic about the Amadeus Horse Indoors: “It’s great here. I did not know that there was a car to win, very cool.”
Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and Dm Jacqmotte (Toulon x Indoctro) finished in second place, backed by two penalty-free efforts, the decisive one in 41.26 seconds.
Alexandra Thornton (GBR) and Cornetto K (Cornet Obolensky x Calido) earned bronze honors, backed by two clear performances and a final time of 43.30 seconds.
