Rome, Italy – November 25, 2019 – Luca Marziani (ITA) has confirmed the sale of Tokyo du Soleil to young rider Mike Kawai (JPN). The Italian and the 12-year-old Selle Français stallion (Montender x Papillon Rouge) have formed a successful combination over the past four years.
The stallion helped the Italian reach the highest level of the sport, participating in the 2017 and 2019 FEI European Championships, the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina, USA.
However, the highlight of their partnership was the win in the 2018 FEI Nations Cup CSIO 5* at Piazza di Siena.
Being on home soil brought out the best in the two, in fact, they finished 6th in the €400,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5* at Piazza di Siena and 4th in the €300,000 Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome CSI 5* this year.
Due to his achievements, the experienced horse is technically qualified to participate in the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 21-year-old Japanese rider has the event as one of his aspirations, being in the running for one of the three spots on the national team that is automatically qualified as the host country. Soleil might be the horse that will make his Olympic dreams come true!
