
Lyon, France – November 02, 2019 – Scott Brash (GBR) and Hello Shelby won the €100,000 Equita Masters CSI 5*, presented by Hermès Sellier yesterday during the Longines Equita Lyon – Le Salon du Cheval de Lyon CSI 5*-W/2* in France.
It was full house for the Equita Masters presented by Hermès Sellier. Twenty of the world’s top riders competed in this 1.60m class. You needed to ride fast and true to be among the ten qualifiers for the second round. Two riders conceded a penalty point, Christian Ahlmann (GER) on Ailina (Chico’s Boy x Cowondo Z), and the world number two, Martin Fuchs (SUI) on Silver Shine (Califax x Balou du Rouet), who finished sixth and fifth respectively.
Mark McAuley (IRL) and Miebello (Flyinge Quite Easy 958 x Cardento 933) were the first to complete a second clear round and set the benchmark time of 43”00, but the following riders notched up faster and faster rounds to try and win the class in front of a vociferous crowd.
Finally, Scott Brash (GBR) and came out on top, for the second year in a row. He rode an extremely fast jump-off on the 10-year-old bay Hannoverian gelding (Stolzenberg x For Pleasure), full of poise and fluidity towards a flawless performance, stopping the timers in 41.02 seconds in the second round for the win.

Daniel Deusser (GER) and Jasmien vd Bisschop (Larino x Chin Chin) were right on the heels of the winners, finishing only seven-hundredths of a second slower.

Marc Houtzager (NED) & Sterrehof’s Dante
Marc Houtzager (NED) and Sterrehof’s Dante (Canturano x Phin Phin) completed the podium with no penalties and a final time of 42.74 seconds.

“There was a great atmosphere. It was a very exciting class that I am proud to have won again. Shelby jumped incredibly well, and even better in the jump-off. I am delighted to see how he is improving day after day. He seems to be enjoying it more and more. He’s a really class act. It makes my life easier,” said Scott Brash after his win.
