Eric Lamaze & Chacco Kid Claim $133,700 Cana Cup CSI 5* at Spruce Meadows

Calgary, Alberta, Canada – September 05, 2019 – Eric Lamaze (CAN) and Chacco Kid won the $133,700 Cana Cup CSI 5* yesterday during the ‘Masters’ CSIO 5* at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Province of Alberta, Canada.

The CANA Cup has been part of the Spruce Meadows collection since 1977. This historic competition has been won by some of the greats including Ian Millar (CAN), Nick Skelton (GBR) and Beezie Madden (USA). This year, 50 horse/rider combinations stepped through the clock tower hoping to add their name to the champions list.

Eric Lamaze (CAN) & Chacco Kid 

Fourteen combinations jumped clear first rounds qualifying for the jump off including Canadian fan favourite Eric Lamaze (CAN). Leading off the jump off aboard Chacco Kid, a 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Chacco-Blue x Come On), the duo delivered a clear and very fast jump-off round with a time of 37.80 seconds to take the lead. Even though he was first in the jump off, Lamaze could not be caught.

Rowan Willis (AUS) and Diablo VII (Douglas x Cavalier) jumped a double clear towards a second-place finish in a time of 40.72 seconds.

Kevin Staut (FRA) and Urhelia Luttterbach (Helios de La Cour II x Emilion) secured third place after a clean scorecard, stopping the final timers in 41.07 seconds.
