Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 13, 2019 – The second of the two $36,100 Friends of the Meadows Cup CSI 5* competitions on the North American Ring brought great competition over the two phase track designed by FEI Course Designer Tom Holden (IRL).
The North American Ring welcomed forty-eight combinations to the ring for the first of two Friends of the Meadows Cup classes with 27 advancing to the second phase.
Darragh Kenny (IRL) has had a great Spruce Meadows Summer Series thus far with two FEI wins during the previous weeks competitions and multiple top 10 finishes. Kenny continued to perform at his best on the first day of the ‘Continental’ CSI 5* , presented by Rolex.
The Irishman and Cazador LS an 11-year-old black La Silla stallion ( Casall La Silla x Dollar Dela Pierre) posted a clear performance and a final a time of 27.79 seconds to claim first place.
Hardin Towell (IRL) and Carlo (Casall x Landlord) also registered a clean scorecard, stopping the second phase timers in 27.90 seconds for silver honors.
Eve Jobs (USA) and Charleville (Quasimodo Z x Lancelot) completed the podium with no penalties, going through the final timers in 28.11 seconds.
