Poznan, Poland – June 09, 2019 – Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) and Moon Ray won the PLN $407,400 Grand Prix CSI 4*, counting for the Longines Rankings, yesterday during the 4Foulee CSI 4* Poznan in Poznan, Poland.
Ten combinations out of 43 starters secured a spot in the jump off, including 4 Polish ones: Jaroslaw Skrzyczyński riding Jerico, Wojciech Wojcianiec with Chintablue, Maksymilian Wechta with London 32 and Hubert Kierznowski aboard Lanoso.
Only three pairs landed a double clear, and the fastest was the one who came into the ring first – Kristaps Neretnieks and Moon Ray. The best time among the riders with one fault sent Jarosław Skrzyczyński to the fourth place.
The Latvian and the 14-year-old bay Westphalian gelding (Cornet Obolensky x Contender) were supreme in the 1.60m challenge by clearing all the obstacles for no penalties and crossing the finish line in 41.12 seconds during the tiebreaker.
Second place was claimed by Efe Siyahi (TUR) from Turkey with Call Me Princess (Chap 47 x Levisto) timed in 41.37 seconds while Juan Carlos Garcia (ITA) and Cocodrillo (Corrado I x Lord) rounded out the top three in 43.66 seconds.
Jaroslaw Skrzyczyński (POL) riding Jerico finished in fourth place as the fastest combination with four penalty-points in the jump-off, registering the exact time of the eventual winners, making him the best home athlete.
“For the jump off I didn’t have any plan, because I went first and I didn’t see any riders so the only thing I could do is take all the risk, go how much i can how fast not 100% quite fast, small turns, we were lucky and we did it.I love this show, I came here every year if only Ican, the ground is great, nice grass, the audience is good, the weather is always nice,so it’s great – said the winner, Kristaps Neretnieks.
