Wellington, Florida – March 23, 2019 – Emil Hallundbaek (DEN) and Chalisco won the $209,000 Wellington Agricultural Services Grand Prix CSI 4* last Saturday during the eleventh week of competition of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, Florida.

A total of forty-five combinations were ready to challenge Olaf Peterson Jr.‘s (GER) course on the derby field at the AGDF venue but only thirty-five crossed the finish line in the first round. Nine of the participants retired and one pair was eliminated. Nine competitors had time penalties attributed to their score. Four obstacles were the main causes of keeping others from advancing with the triple (4a, 4b & 4c), 5, 8, 10 and element A of the double (12a), all falling more frequently.

Lorcan Gallagher (IRL) and Hunters Conlypso II (Contendro x Cous-Cous) led the field, being the first ones to answer all the questions while completing the course and having no penalties attributed to them.

Emil Hallundbaek (DEN) and Chalisco (Chacco-Blue x Quilata) secured a jump-off, being joined by Harrie Smolders (NED) & Une de L’Othain (Conterno Grande x Cento), Rodrigo Lambre (BRA) & Chacciama (Chacco-Blue x Warriama) and Jessica Springsteen (USA) & Fleur de L’Aube (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Orchidee vh Pallieterland).

Jump-off
The double combination was decisive again in the jump-off, eliminating three out of the five finalists from contention, all registering four penalty-points in the tiebreaker. In an attempt to shave off precious time during the tight rollback to element a, they ended up getting caught, knocking down the top pole of element a.

Being the second ones to go in the jump-off, Emil Hallundbaek (DEN) and Chalisco (Chacco-Blue x Quilata) registered the winning clear performance in 42.379 seconds.
