2019. Dortmund CSI 4 GP Michael Jung & FischerChelsea Stefan Lafrentz

Dortmund, Germany – March 10, 2019 – The most successful eventing rider in the world has snatched away the victory of the Mitsubishi Motors Masters League from his showjumping colleagues. Michael Jung (GER) from Horb am Neckar won the €150,000 Grand Prix of the Federal Republic of Germany CSI 4* taking home a brand new Mitsubishi L200 during the Signal Iduna Cup CSI 4*

His partner in the successful endeavour was FischerChelsea, an eleven-year-old Westphalian mare (Check In x Argent), posting a penalty-free jump-off performance in 35.72 seconds .

“I would not have thought a few years ago that she would be so good,” admitted the 36-year-old rider, who has already won Olympic, World Championship and European Championship gold in the eventing. Show jumper national coach Otto Becker had the Swabian ever on the list for a Nations Cup. “If he called again, I’d be glad,” grinned Jung mischievously. On the grandstand of the Westfalenhalle, the jubilation was great for the celebrity, who is a real all-rounder in equestrian sports.

“No, our eventers in the UK did not ride at the same level as Michael,” said second-placed Robert Whitaker (GBR) . “But who is good, should also win,” said Whitaker, who sat in the saddle of the experienced Holsteiner gelding Catwalk IV (Colman x Corleone), earning silver honors after registering no penalties and a time of 36.47 seconds during the tiebreaker. “I knew that I was not fast enough in the jump-off,” Whitaker said.

Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) completed the podium aboard GC Chopin’s Bushi (Contendro II x Nairobi), having no penalties attributed to them and a final time of 37.15 seconds. The Portuguese rider was very satisfied with his third place: “I have been here for the first time in Dortmund and for me this is also the last indoor tournament. We’ll take a break now and then it’s off to the green season. “

Also Whitaker and Almeida each received new cars of the brand Mitsubishi, as well as the fourth-placed rider, German showjumper Patrick Stühlmeyer (GER).

In just two months, the Mitsubishi Motors Masters League will begin again with the first chance to qualify at the Hardenberg Castle Tournament in Nörten-Hardenberg from May 16-19, 2019. There, Michael Jung will once again start as defending champion of the League.
