Scott Brash (GBR) made a surprising announcement yesterday during the awards ceremony of the CHF $1,200,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*.
The Brit had just posted another solid performance aboard Ursula XII, the 17-year-old British Sport Horse mare (Ahorn x Papageno) who had helped become the first and only equestrian to date to have won the Rolex Grand Slam of Showjumping by clinching victory in Rolex Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows back in 2016.
The duo finished in an honorable sixth place in the fourth leg of the Rolex Grand Slam and Brash took the opportunity to make it known that it had been Ursula’s final prance and dance in competition.
The Brit and the mare had a successful partnership, registering several important victories and several placings at the top of the sport, including:
2014 Horse Radar Stakes CSI 3* at Birmingham
2016 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5 at Spruce Meadows
2017 Grand Prix of Doha CSI 5* at Al Shaqab
2018 LGCT Grand Prix at Mexico City CSI 5*
