José “Zé” Roberto Reynoso (BRA) claimed the 2018 Brazilian Senior Champioship Title and is now a three-time winner of the event that crowns the nation’s best showjumper. The crowning moment took place when he rode Azrael W to victory for the second time this week, topping the Grand Prix yesterday at the Sociedade Hipica Paulista (SHP) in São Paulo, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
Reynoso got off to a perfect start last Thursday by winning the first of the two classes valid for the championship, this one consisting of two identical courses. The Olympic rider showed his maestry, posting two flawless performances for provisional lead.

Stephan Barcha (BRA) & Quisling Pedreira Joter
Stephan Barcha (BRA) and Quisling Pedreira Joter (Diamant de Semilly x Muguet du Manoir) were very much in contention after the first day of competition but they had two unlucky poles down for a total of eight penalty-points in the Grand Prix and the same final score, good enough for second place.

“Azrael W hadn’t been able to jump for a year, we returned and won the Grand Prix during the Indoor SHP CSI 2*-W (30/9) and we have won the Brazilian Championship once again,” said José Roberto, who joined Team Brazil at the 2012 London Olympic Games. “I just have to thank the veterinarian Dr. Priscila Azevedo and the team, the grooms who have not measured their efforts during Azrael’s road to recovery.”
