Billy Twomey (IRL) & Diaghilev won the €24,850 Lacera Trophy CSI 5* last Wednesday during the CSIO 5* Gijón in Gijón, Spain.

The Irishman and the 15-year-old bay British Sport Horse gelding (Vangelis x Handstreich) triumphed in the 1.50m two-phase class CSIO 5* by advancing to and completing phase two with no penalties and a final time of 28.06 seconds

It was a close call among Irishmen as Richard Howley (IRL) & (Electra B x Arezzo VDL) were nipped by only one-hundredth of a second.

Adir Abreu Junior (BRA) & Teck de Riverland (Quick Star x Cincaba Rouge) earned bronze honors, matching the winners’ penalty-free performance over each section of the 1.50m, completing the podium in 28.14 seconds.
