In an exciting jump-off on Thursday evening, Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) won the Grand Prix Del Monte France (1.50m), a class that counts for the Grand National FFE. Last out on his chestnut Sunshine du Phare, the French national-team rider managed to complete the course in an amazing 37”53, cutting almost a second off the time of the Columbian rider Carlos Lopez, who had been in firmly established himself in pole position on Ulhane de Conde with a time of 38”28.
“Equita has started well for me,” said the rider known as Bosty. “I rode horses that needed to compete in intermediate classes. Having the Grand National in this great arena at Equita Lyon is amazing. It’s a fantastic win and I’m delighted. Sunshine has already jumped well in some great classes. He’s got a lot of potential. He’s improving and has a good jumping ability,” said Bosty.
A total of nine riders in the jump-off managed double clear rounds, including the local rider from the Rhône-Alpes area, Julien Gonin, who finished third on Weraton in 39”41. Roger-Yves Bost also took fourth place on his second horse Tesway de la Batia (39”61), just ahead of the only female rider in the jump-off, Valentine Belooussoff on Calou (40”86).
