North Salem, NY – September 10, 2026 – Besides FEI-level four-star action, a major two-star challenge also took place on Thursday at Old Salem Farm. Later in the day, Wade and his team challenged 33 horse-and-rider combinations representing eight countries with a 16-effort, 1.45m course in the $32,000 Old Salem Farm Welcome Stake CSI 2*. Thirteen returned over the shortened jump-off track, with Wednesday’s 2* Two-Phase victors, Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) and Ziggy Stardust, tripping the timers in 36.02 seconds to best the rest of the field once more.

Americans McKayla Langmeier (USA) and Alessandra Volpi (USA) finished in second and third, respectively. Langmeier piloted Jivaro NC Z, Rafferty Farm’s 8-year-old Zangersheide gelding, to a time of 36.44 seconds.

“He’s very comfortable at this height and is a very competitive horse,” Pessoa said of Artemis Equestrian Farm’s 10-year-old Anglo-European gelding. “I was lucky enough to see Alessandra (Volpi) go first, and I thought she had not left too much out there. I was just able to take some time off her jump-off. This horse is a great horse to go in these classes; he’s always willing and a hard trier. It’s really nice to be able to compete with him.”

Volpi and Cedar Fox’s 8-year-old Holsteiner gelding Movie Star completed their round in 36.56 seconds.
